Nausea: |
Ask your doctor about medicine that can help
you control nausea and vomiting. |
Try eating dry/ light foods such as dry toast
and crackers. |
Eat slowly and eat only small amounts at a time. |
Try ice chips instead of water. |
Avoid rich greasy food. |
Do not drink fluids with meals; instead sip on
them during the rest of the day. |
Wear loose fitting, clothes which breathe. |
Avoid lying down immediately after eating. |
Vomiting: |
Various foods, smells, medicines can bring on
a bout of vomiting. |
Ask your doctor about medicines to control these
bouts. |
Do not eat or drink if it causes you to vomit.
Instead wait for a half hour and then try taking a small sip
of a clear liquid. If vomiting starts, stop eating. Frequent
vomiting can cause loss of nutrients and lead to deep fatigue. |
Resume only once the vomiting is under control.
Begin with a teaspoon every 10 minutes and gradually increase
the amount to a tablespoon every 20 minutes and finally try
slightly larger quantities every half an hour. |
Once you are able to hold the liquids, try an
easily digested food. If that works move on to a regular diet
(see tables below for examples of clear, easily digested and
regular foods) |
