If you have been told that your diabetes control diet needs to be about 1,200 to 1,600 calories a day – then… Choose this many servings from these food groups to have 1,200 to 1,600 calories a day:
  • 6 starches
  • 2 milks
  • 3 vegetables
  • 4 to 6 ounces meat and meat substitutes
  • 2 fruits
  • Up to 3 fats
As a diabetic, you can take good care of yourself with your diabetes meal plan by learning how much and what all you can eat each day. This calorie restricted diabetes meal plan can help you achieve balanced nutrition while maintaining stabilized blood glucose levels.
