Gone are those days when your grandmother vigorously rubbed mustard or castor oil into your limbs, or your mom made you drink cod liver oil or bitter amla juice every day. Today the buzz word is "Detox". You now have detox spas and detox destinations, that offer detox herbs for detox facials, pedicures and manicures, and detox meals for weight loss and body purification. In other words - Detoxed out!
Increasingly, the trend has been to take a two - three week vacation to a remote, exotic location where you feast on awful tasting food made with herbal concoctions that make your stomach churn and heave. You discover you can produce new types of diarhea with rabid frequency and nausea and your body craves basic food and liquids such as water - but you cannot and must not have them. You can only sip on the expensive elixirs made just for you.
You expect to leave the spa refreshed, beautiful, a few pounds lighter and with a cleansed body inside and out. But, is that what really happens to your body?
