We start of with a question - Do you need a detox diet when your body and several organs were made to act as detoxifiers.
Not surprisingly the body has a natural, regular and ongoing process of detoxifying itself when and wherever required. It dilutes, neutralises or eliminates toxins from the body and this is referred to as detoxification or Detox for short. This way it rids the body of toxins or anything that could possibly cause harm to the body tissues. Toxins are converted to less harmful compounds and excreted through blood, skin, urine, feces and breath. The whole body is geared to function as a single unit. Liver is the main detoxification organ and the other four are lungs, lymph glands, kidney and colon.
Lets understand Toxins! - Toxins are produced by normal catabolism of proteins; chemicals that enter our body as we are exposed to household cleaners, pesticides, food additives, oral contraceptives, drugs, air pollutants, cigarette smoke and heavy metals on a day to day basis. The toxic sludge metabolized in the body is disposed off by the corresponding organs involved.
