However today there seems to be a setback on promoting soy in the context of maintaining blood sugar. Several small studies exclusively conducted to study the effect of soy on blood sugar with type 2 diabetes are getting mixed results. Some depicted definite decrease in blood glucose while others had no effect. So, further research or redesigning of studies is required to corroborate any finding.
One thing however is clear that since it reduces blood cholesterol levels, it does not load the kidney, provides isoflavones which act as antioxidants, has a low Glycemic index and is rich in dietary fibre, both required for controlling blood sugar. Diabetics will definitely benefit and manage their condition better.
