- Abdominal obesity - waist circumference
- U.S.A - 35 inches or more for women and 40 inches or more for men
- India - over 34 inches in men and over 31.5 inches in women
- Serum triglycerides 150 mg/dl or above.
- HDL cholesterol 40mg/dl or lower in men and 50mg/dl or lower in women.
- Blood pressure 130 - 140/85 - 90 or more.
- Impaired glucose tolerance An elevated fasting blood glucose 100 mg/dl or above & an elevated post meal glucose 140mg/dl
