Foods and nutrients: To Increase
- Fruits & vegetables. Half the plate should consist of vegetables & fruits. A minimum of 2 -3 cups of vegetables and 2 cups fruits per day.
- Whole grains instead of refined grains. At least 50% of grains consumed should be whole grains. They are rich sources of iron, magnesium, selenium, B vitamins, and varied amounts of dietary fiber.
- Fat-free or low-fat dairy products.
- Prefer Seafood over meat and poultry.
- Healthy oils. Replace solid fats with oils where ever possible.
